One of the biggest mobile phone brands in the world, Samsung enters into Myanmar esports scene by hosting and sponsoring PUBG Mobile Tournament and personalities. PUBG Mobile is the mobile version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, an online multiplayer FPS battle-royale game, which is published by Tencent Games.

It currently is the one of the most famous mobile games in Asia alongside with Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Samsung announced that they will host PUBG Mobile tournament called Galaxy Challenge Samsung 2019 with total prize pool of over 10 million Kyats (around 7,000 USD). Samsung also hired Arkar Tun (AKgoLive), a local famous PUBG-Mobile streamer with more than 356k followers, as the brand ambassador for Samsung Mobile. They will also partner with “Claw Esports”, a mobile-focused Esports organization which also owns a PUBG Mobile team.

This is not the first time for Myanmar that an Esports organization collaborates with a mobile phone brand. Huawei Mobile sponsored Burmese Ghouls earlier in 2019. Burmese Ghouls owns MLBB, PUBG M and AOV teams which are formed by whole Myanmar youths.

Samsung also has a plan for “Galaxy Team” based on the performance of players from their Galaxy Challenge Tournament. They will pick new talented players to found a team of their own and support it in coming year.
